Historical and literary works devoted to the famous martyrs of Islam originate from Arabic written literature. However, works written in Persian and Azerbaijani later gained greater popularity and served as the basis for the formation of a new style and literary trend. The study of maqtal works, which constitute a traditional genre in Azerbaijani literature, is relevant from the perspective of modern scholarship, as the study of religious literature from a contemporary scientific standpoint is of particular importance. One such work is “Riyāż al-Quds” by Abbasqulu Agha Bakikhanov, which represents one of his earliest literary endeavors and, at the same time, one of the last classical examples of the maqtal genre in Eastern literature. The only manuscript copy of this work known to scholarship is preserved at the Muhammad Fuzuli Institute of Manuscripts of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan. The present article aims to introduce the first complete transliterated edition of this work. The transliteration was prepared by the late manuscript specialist Arif Ramazanov.
