Abstract
Very few works created in the Middle East in the Middle Ages have not been influenced by Nizami. Although he did not write separate work as a language specialist, he left a legacy of lyrical works and mesnevi, which are of exceptional importance and are of great interest to the study of historical grammar, state vocabulary and lexicography of the Persian language. Comprehensive study of these works, that is, phonetic, morphological, semantic, lexical and lexicographic study, and comparisons with the modern period contribute to the achievement of invaluable results in terms of the historical development of the Persian language. In the lexicography of the Persian language, Nizami’s works were used for various purpo-ses. People who create dictionaries, who have experienced their powers in this field, collecting words from the language of Nizami and sometimes finding interesting meanings, transmitted it by means of couplet. From this point of view, the classical lexicography of the Persian language, written using the Nizami heritage, takes two forms: 1. Dictionaries covering the language and the rich vocabulary of Nizami’s works 2. Dictionaries dedicated to the lexical composition of the Persian-language Eastern poetry. The purpose of the research is to tell about the attitude of the lexicography of the Persian language and its researchers during the Middle Ages and in subsequent stages to the work of Nizami, as well as the influence of the poet’s works on the dictionari, at the same time, to clarify the history of the study of the Nizami’s vocabulary. Since we do not have the opportunity to conduct research on the basis of all above-mentioned dictionaries for the purpose of a more specific and detailed study of these issues, in the article we highlight this topic through examples taken from the manuscripts of the dictionary "Mejme ul-forsi" by Muhammad Gasim Sururi. Let us note that in the dictionary «Mejme ul-forsi» the number of couplets, quoted from the literary heritage of Nizami, is more than 300. There are many geographical, historical names, terms related to the military sphere, botany, medicine, music, animals, everyday life, economics, various religious denominations, as well as many phrases, metaphors, ironic phrases, artistic expressions and word compositions. They represent interest in themselves and are very valuable in terms of studying the vocabulary of the Persian language, as well as toponymy, art, science, history, everyday life, economic and political life of the Eastern countries.
