Ethics & disclosures

It is important that all parties involved in the publication process (authors, readers and researchers, publisher, reviewers and editors) adhere to ethical principles. The Journal of Oriental Studies adheres to national and international standards of research and publication ethics. It also undertakes to comply with the decisions of the Supreme Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Reprint
If it is discovered that the same article or substantially similar articles have been published in more than one journal, the scientific work will be returned by the editor without review.

Simultaneous Submission of the Same Work to More than One Journal

Authors may not submit the same article to more than one journal at the same time. If the editor becomes aware of a possible simultaneous submission, he or she reserves the right to consult with the other editor(s) who received the article. The editor may also return the article without review, reject it without considering the reviews, or make this decision after discussing it with the other editor(s) and decide to suspend the acceptance of article submissions from authors for a certain period of time.

Plagiarism Prevention Control

Plagiarism is the act of presenting the ideas, methods, data, experiments, writings, figures, or works of others as one’s own without properly citing the original authors in accordance with scientific principles.

The Journal of Oriental Studies checks all submitted articles using the StrikePlagiarism software to prevent plagiarism. The similarity rate is expected to be less than 10%. The main measure of similarity is the author’s adherence to the referencing guidelines.

Plagiarism is considered to be unethical behavior such as duplication, false authorship/disclaimer of authorship, fabrication of research/data, copyright infringement, and concealment of conflicts of interest. All articles that do not comply with accepted ethical standards will be removed from publication. This also includes articles with possible violations or inconsistencies discovered after publication.

Fraud

This includes the preparation of information that is not based on research, editing or changing a submitted or published work based on false information.

Principles of Research Ethics

The following points should be considered during the submission process for the evaluation process.

1. Submitted articles should not have been previously published elsewhere and should not be currently in the publication process of another journal.

2. In accordance with the scope of the journal, research articles are published in areas covering social sciences, especially architecture, art, ethnic studies, artificial intelligence, history, geography, history and philosophy of science, literature, linguistics, music, religion, psychology and sociology.

3. The Journal of Oriental Studies is published four times a year and a maximum of two works by the same author may be published in one issue, provided that they are in different sections.

4. Articles submitted to the Journal of Oriental Studies are first reviewed by the Editorial Board for compliance with the principles of the journal.

5. Articles that do not comply with the APA7 Citation System Writing Guidelines (https://apastyle.apa.org/products/publication-manual-7th-edition) are returned to the author for correction.

6. Articles that comply with the APA7 Citation System Writing Guidelines (https://apastyle.apa.org/products/publication-manual-7th-edition) are sent to at least two reviewers. If one reviewer's report is positive and the other is negative, the article is sent to a third reviewer.

7. Authors take into account the criticisms and suggestions of the reviewers and the Editorial Board. If they disagree with any point, they have the right to state their reasons.

8. A StrikePlagiarism report must be attached to the submitted manuscripts. The similarity ratio should not exceed 10%.

9. The publication languages ​​of the Oriental Studies Journal are Azerbaijani, English and oriental languages. Articles written in Azerbaijani must have a title, abstract, and keywords in English and vice versa, and articles written in oriental languages ​​must have a title in Azerbaijani and English.

10. Abstracts must consist of at least 150 and a maximum of 250 words. The journal should contain 3-5 keywords prepared in accordance with the APA7 referencing system (https://apastyle.apa.org/products/publication-manual-7th-edition).

11. The Oriental Studies Journal is paid.

12. Free open access to the contents of the journal is provided.

13. The copyright of articles accepted for publication in the Oriental Studies Journal belongs to the authors.

14. Authors submitting articles to the journal are considered to have accepted these principles. Articles that do not comply with these principles will not be considered.
