The formation and development of urban settlements in the Absheron-Khizi economic region, as well as the dynamics of urban development by administrative districts, are analyzed. The study of demographic potential in the region's metropolitan areas reveals that, in recent years, natural growth and a decline in the dynamics of births and marriages have been observed. Proposals and recommendations are presented for addressing the demographic development issues of cities in the region, along with the direction for their solution. The article presents a comprehensive study of the demographic research in the city of Sumgayit during the period of research operations (1989-2024). These research operations were not just a routine exercise, but a significant undertaking that has provided valuable insights into the demographic dy namics and their impact on economic development. The demographic indicators of the Absheron Khizi economic cities are determined in relation to general urban calculations, and the methods for solving the identified problems are justified.
