Notwithstanding the sira as a literary form or genre originated in Arabic literature, it soon spread to Persian and local folk literatures, and many notable examples of it were created. The consideration of this topic within Azerbaijani oriental studies, as well as the writing and defense of a separate doctoral dissertation are of great interest both from the point of view of interliterary connections and from the point of view of tracking the dynamics of mobile plots. However, of double interest is the scientific level of the dissertation devoted to such an important topic, the culture of writing dissertations in Azerbaijani philological thought in general, as well as the requirements imposed on such works, the methods of their implementation and the the qualification level of compliance specialists. In our opinion, research conducted with these criteria in mind, as applied to dissertations, will in the future enhance both the level and authority of scholarly work in the field of oriental studies and the responsibility of institutions that must ensure the objective examination of such research.
